Charge Resistor is used to charge the dc capacitors inside the inverters is a controlled manner so that the semiconductors are not damaged.

When the capacitors are de-energized, the dangerous high voltage resulting from the stored energy must be discharged gradually over a certain period of time. This time is less than two minutes.

The difference between charge and discharge is actually the duration of the process. Normally, the charging time is a few seconds while the discharging time is limited to two minutes. Therefore, this time difference is used in the design of resistors.
