CT-1, CTA-1 series toroidal current transformers, which are selected according to the cable or busbar thickness, are connected to the current measurement input of the residual current relays and are used to measure the leakage currents.

As a current measurement technique, the currents passing through the phase and neutral lines are collected as vectors and compared with the current value set on the RCR and ELR series relay. In addition to the CT series Toroidal residual current transformers, which are generally used during the cabling or by disconnecting the line connection, installation can be made without disturbing the continuity of the system with the split core type CTA series Toroidal Residual Current Transformer, which is easier to use.

It is known well for the following advantages:

  • Fixed (Solid Core CT Series) or openable (Split Core CTA Series) models
  • Solution for large cable cross-sections
  • Test windings – the control circuit pair (terminals 3-4)
  • There are two windings on Toroidal Current Transformers. One is used to measure the amount of leakage current, while the other is used for the test function on RCR and ELR type residual current relays.
  • By giving a testing current from an external point, both the relay and the transformer can be tested and checked for malfunction.
  • Toroidal Current Transformers are used in electrical panels with high power and thickwire and busbars.
  • With the CTA-1 series split core type transformers, fast and easy installation and maintenance is ensured at points where system downtime would cause great financial damage, such as factories that manufacture in large numbers.
