Residual Current Protection Systems

The function of the Residual Current Protection Systems is to detect the leakage current caused by the insulation fault, to open the circuits they are connected to in case this leakage current exceeds the determined fault current value, and to remove the damage that may be caused by the leakage current there.
Leakage current poses a danger in electrically powered systems. These systems are constantly checked; When an emergency or unexpected situation occurs, the system should be intervened automatically in milliseconds. In this regard, protection devices are important.
While the required limit is 30mA (Human Protection) to prevent situations where people will be directly exposed to electricity leakage and affect their health, the upper limit of leakage current in structures such as panels with the possibility of fire is determined as 300mA (Fire Protection).
Electronic residual current protection relays allow monitoring and protection of the low voltage distribution network using a toroidal transformer.
It is possible to measure the leakage current to earth by means of residual current protection relays. These relays work together with a separate external toroid. The active conductors that pass through the toroid create a magnetic field proportional to the current flow. Under normal conditions and in the absence of leakage current, the vector sum of the current is zero. Any fault condition causes an unbalance in the vector sum proportional to the value of the leakage current.
The value of the fault current is constantly detected by the toroid. When the residual current relay receives a signal from the toroid, it switches its output contacts. Then the shunt-trip opens the circuit breaker.
In Residual Current Protection Systems, we are also one of the companies that are known, trusted, and preferred in the sector with our Aktif brand products.
