Description

French Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) ordered that the vessel NB57 to carry out the maintenance of four windmill farm in Germany will be built in Turkey by coastal Cemre Shipyard in Turkey. Designed by Norwegian Salt ShiDesign, the ship is 83 meters long and 19.4 meters wide.

In this innovative project, where current technological developments and maximum environmentally friendly features are used together, diesel-electric supported by batteries will be tried to provide low fuel consumption and low operation costs.

EXPECTATIONS

Elkon, manufacturer of electric panels of NB57 requested support from Aktif Group, in order to design of IT insulation monitoring system of 400 V and 230 V main distribution panels fed separately by isolation transformers.

With the evaluations to be made on single line diagrams and specifications, it was decided to determine possible isolation fault of all output lines in 400 V and 230 V main distribution panels and to make observations about the necessary warnings.

In addition, it is planned to support the selection of suitable devices for the control of the isolation level of the emergency generator output line.

APPLICATION

The necessary evaluations were made on the selection of suitable Bender products to detect the isolation levels of the 400 V, 230 V and emergency generator distribution outputs, feds by isolating transformers. The system configured with the Bender iso685W series insulation monitoring device and EDS440D series insulation fault location device selected according to the IT system, is completed by the selection of the appropriate toroidal current transformers and the determination of the communication infrastructure.

RESULT

8 pieces Bender iso685W series insulation monitoring device and 16 pieces Bender EDS440 fault location device and suitable 155 Bender current transformer are used in system in order to monitor the isolation levels of 400 V and 230 V main distribution outputs, which are supplied with 250 kVA and 150 kVA isolation transformers.

RESULT

8 pieces Bender iso685W series insulation monitoring device and 16 pieces Bender EDS440 fault location device and suitable 155 Bender current transformer are used in system in order to monitor the isolation levels of 400 V and 230 V main distribution outputs, which are supplied with 250 kVA and 150 kVA isolation transformers.

Application Example of Insulation Fault Location System for NB57 Wind of Change Ship

With the designed insulation fault location system, the isolation level of the AC network will be continuously monitored with Bender devices and the insulation faults occurring in any part of the line will be detected immediately. Thus, it will be ensured that unexpected power outages and possible isolation fault are prevented.
